Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...
Knows what he’s talking about on all subjects.

But about us specifically.

Spoke the truth, as did the panel, not what the new happy clappy clowns want to hear.

Not that they care as they’ve got the sanitised easy experience they always wanted.

Good insight on Payet too, Payet was too good for us at the time, so it’s no surprise he got turned.

Sullivan wouldn’t give him a contract but wouldn’t sell him either despite Slav’s advice as the player had said he wanted to leave. Stupid midget cunt.

Also admitted that he didn’t really have the full day on transfers.

Shows how Slav was undermined during his time.

Re: Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...
i think Scholes & McManaman had a very British view of Payet.
upon leaving us he helped get L'OM to the Europa league final and would have been in the French World Cup squad but he did a hamstring.
Stupid comment by two idiots who clearly dont watch enough european football.

I was implying it was more lucky he came in and was a success at keeping West Ham up rather than lucky to get him

Could have easily carried on leading West Ham to relegation like Bilic was doing

Re: Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...
No, I think David MOYES was very fortunate to land the West Ham United job having taken Sunderland down 5 months before in the fashion he did and having 3 (THREE) SUCCESSIVE failures.

The majority of football was dogshit, and the I don’t rate him as a manager - Again, just my opinion.

However, we was certainly not ‘lucky’ to get him, but he can can himself fortunate to get us.

it's fairly common knowledge Payet was told to go back to Marseille because he was cheating on his wife and moved back there to save the marriage

Re: Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...
Scholes and McManaman were right as well. Hardly anyone had heard of Payet before becoming world class at West Ham. He could have gone anywhere to be honest but went back home to Marseille where now no-one knows what he has been doing again. All very strange. Not sure whether to admire the bloke for "going home" or think what an idiot for not either carrying on being a Legend at West Ham or stepping up a level.

Arnie was far more important to us though last season though Than Payet In 2015, we’d have gone down without Arnie last season 100%

key phrase in that post : "we'd have gone down" - down to bilic's management

just lucky Moyes came in and steadied the ship changing Marko's position and bringing in Mario to score some vital goals and get vital assists

‘highly doubt we'll ever see another player as influential like him unless Pellegrini finds a gem’

But he MADE himself under slav?! I understand he had good STATS before hand, but very few raved about him and talked about payet - he wasn’t a household name amongst football fans and 10m - Bilic helped make Payet and then he went to the Euro’s and confirmed his status.

We didn’t sign a world class superstar but we sold one, and the manager gets credit for that just as he gets criticism for not getting the best out of Arnie.

Re: Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...
I think all managers are different. Some are good managers when things are going well and their teams play good football but they struggle when things go pear shaped and some play boring dire football but still manage to have the grit and know how to survive. Slav and possibly Pellegrini come in the first bracket and the likes of Allardyce and Pullis in the second. We have experienced both. You are a lucky Club if you have a guy that can do both with attractive football.

To be fair to Slaven he admitted he had input on the poor transfers late on and didn't blame everyone else, but the irony being a wantaway player affecting squad morale and performances, (seen that before recently?!)

I liked Slaven but I don't think having Dicksy helped to be honest. Loved Dicksy as a player and he always put 100% on the pitch but less so on a training pitch and his respect for staff when he was a player wasn't particularly great so I think Slaven needed someone with a bit more experience as an assistant and he may have survived.

Re: Super Slav on Premier League Tonight...

west ham haven't finished above both Chelsea and Liverpool in YEARS, Leicester was just another combination of luck and fluke but that's a whole other debate to be had

arnie was a game changer but is no where near the level of Payet lets be honest. As others have said he was one of the top 5 players in the world especially after that season and the euros for france.

Payet gave the whole team confidence to play, cresswell for example was constantly his outlet on the left side and made the whole team tick with his passing and confidence on the ball.

highly doubt we'll ever see another player as influential like him unless Pellegrini finds a gem

‘We were lucky because there was a combination of most top teams in the league having an off year and having one of the best players in the world carrying the team‘

But that’s the case every year we finish above them, surely? IMO it’s not luck, it’s that us, Leicester and Southampton all made very good signings and improved whilst playing very well.

Most teams, at our level especially, have a game changer - last year for us Is was Arnie. Payet was huge but he didn’t carry the team, everyone was at it, absolutely everyone.

Lots of things came together but in the end I think we should have done better than we did. Bilic did a great job with some players but made some strange decisions and defensively we got continually worse after that spell.

Remember Liverpool and Chelsea finished below us and Leicester won.

We were 4 points off Champions League.
